Miep Gies was born in 1909 in Vienna. She had a severe case of tuberculosis and poor nutrition. She was then sent to Amsterdam. She had a really positive experience with her foster family. They taught her to always serve others, with probably led to her helping Anne Frank and her family. When war broke out she set up the attic that 8 people lived in. It was at her and her co-workers company. They hid them for the bulk of the war. Miep brought food, books, and common necessitates. But soon before the war ended someone gave them away. She tried so hard to bribe the SS officers that they should come home, but she ended up failing. She could have died doing that. All of the people were sent to concentration camps. Otto Frank, Anne's dad was the only one who survived. She collected Anne’s diary and gave it to Otto Frank. Without Meip Gies Anne’s story wouldn’t have been so well known.
