Sofka Skipwith was born in 1907 in St. Petersburg, Russia. She was the daughter of Prince Peter Alexandrovitch Dolgorouky. Long name right :). Sofka married Leo Zinoveiff. They had two sons Peter and Ivan. They divorced and Sofka married Grey Skipwith. They had one son Patrick. Grey died in 1942 on active service with the Royal Air Force. When the French army was defeated Sofka was arrested by the Germans. She was put into a prison camp. Sofka was released in 1944. She then learned about the horrible things happening to the Jews. She had to help! Sofka was provided with fake documents and ID cards to give to the Jews. That helped them be “someone else”. When the Nazis became stricter about document cards, all the ones Sofka gave out were then invalid. The people she helped all got deported to concentration camps, but she managed to save one infant. Sofka Skipwith was elected Righteous Among the Nations in 1998.
